The celebrations kicked off on February 3rd with a fund-raising party at the Rumson Country Club. The evening was a great success and provided the seed funding for the rest of our Centennial Year’s events. A real highlight was our display of Rumson memorabilia which drew rave reviews from those in attendance. Our next celebration on May 19th, “An Evening at the Farm”, was held on the grounds of the Metcalf Estate under an enormous tent, which thankfully kept us all dry. Over 500 residents and friends were treated to the great sounds of The Trend, who kept everyone on the dance floor and resulted in several encores! Memorial Day allowed that special time for reflection and to give thanks to all the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our country valiantly with dignity and respect. Our Founders’ Day Parade and Picnic was held on June 9th and it was a spectacular day enjoyed by all of Rumson! The parade took place on a picture perfect afternoon with the participation of many surrounding towns and vehicles of all shapes and sizes. Rumson’s volunteer organizations of every stripe turned out and we were so proud of them all! The entertainment never stopped with four bands keeping everyone on their toes and swaying to the music. Our 2007 Independence Day Celebration will be remembered for years to come. This was the first fireworks display at our end of the river. It was breathtaking to sit under the stars at Victory Park and watch the Red, White and Blue sparkle above. We look forward to everyone joining us for the final event to celebrate our Centennial Year. We will be hosting a Spectacular Holiday Tree Lighting, with many surprises, planned for Sunday, December 2nd at 5:30 pm in Victory Park. All of the events this year were funded with the help of many donations to the Rumson Endowment Fund. We thank you sincerely for your generosity. As we look forward to 2008 and beyond, we would like the Rumson Endowment Fund to be in a position to help provide funding for worthy projects around town and for programs for our residents.
